A live journal covering the developement of my short film.

Nothing much

Well, its been a few more days, and not a whole lot has happened. I spent some time looking for storyboard templates, and I actually found some on the CGTalk forums. I have my own storyboard template, but I wanted to make sure mine were designed correctly. Im planning on using Alias Sketch to make all my storyboards. I will be ordering a WACOM Intuos3 6x11" tablet for all my future graphics work. I am also ordering V-Ray Advanced for use in all my future animations.

Story/Screenplay

Well, things have been really busy this past week. I'm happy to say that I did quite well on my last project. I put alot of work into texturing that dreadnaught. Lately ive been messing with a story for my short film, but I want to write it in script format. I was looking on some forums for tutorials when I found a piece of software called "celtx". It is a free script/screenplay software, it can be downloaded on the link below. There is another software title called Final Draft 7 that im going to try also.

Chicken Little

Well, unfortunately I went and saw the new Chicken Little movie by Disney Wednesday night. There is not a whole lot to say about this new animated film so i'll make it short. The story was horrible and the characters seemed lifeless. It was almost as bad as Shrek 2! The story revolved around a resourceful chicken and his outcast friends. It seemed like the little chicken couldn’t do anything right until the end when he saved earth. The bad aliens ended up being cute little furby like creatures that didn’t want to hurt anyone.

This movie may make some 4 - 6 year old kids laugh, but I didn’t laugh ONCE the entire movie. It’s a kids movie, but come on? All the humor was dry and over used, and at one point in the movie, Chicken Little was saying "OH SNAP". I feel sorry for any parent that takes their kids to this movie. Disney's movie making career ended as soon as PIXAR left them.

More renders

I uploaded a few more renders to imageshack to show those of you who might care. This is not finished, I still have alot of detail to add. This is the dreadnaught with just textures, no bump maps or specular hilights added. Enjoy.

Currently im working on a project for my lighting and texturing class at Ferris State University. I have to texture a dreadnaught and light it in Max. For future reference, when I say "MAX" I am referring to 3DStudio Max. Anyways, I uploaded a small render that shows the front of my dreadnaught.

Advanced Tutorials

Most of the stuff I post here will be for documentation purposes so the content will vary. While looking for some tutorials for creating facial rigs in 3dsmax I ran into this guys website. He has done some awesome work, most of which are on his site in video format.
He also has some really good tutorials for making some advanced effects and rigs in Max.

Check it out!

I figured I would mess with some new templates since the blogger ones are kinda stinky.
